Programs
Super Skate
Super Skate is an introductory class for skaters ages 3 – 10 (broken into two age groups) who enjoy the sport and want to gain more exposure to the fundamentals. It is a large class that thrives on community building and bolsters confidence through games and play. The class structure consists of an independent warm up, a short guided instructional time, and ends with dynamic games to build strength, stamina, resilience, and a sense of belonging and love for the sport. Registration is available via Cape Community Services.
Learn To Play (LTP)
For skaters ages 6-12, this beginner/intermediate program introduces players to the game of hockey. The program focuses on developing player’s power skating, stick handling, passing, shooting in a game like setting. Hockey equipment is necessary for all participants. Registration is available via Cape Community Services.
Family Skate/Open Ice
“Family Skate” sessions are held without sticks or pucks on the ice. The intention of this program is to give our families, especially ones with littles, a safe space on the ice. While all ages are welcome, we invite participants to join other skating times and reserve “Family Skate” just for families and young children.
“Open Ice” is available to all ages and the rink is often divided into sections to allow many types of skaters to enjoy the ice at the same time.
Figure Skating Lessons
It’s never too late to learn how to skate! We have a range of options for beginner and intermediate skaters from ages 4 and up. Adult classes are offered both weekday mornings as well as the weekend. And new this season, we are offering a class for skaters who identify as having an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) where we will offer some adaptive/safety equipment as needed (walkers, helmets, etc.). Read more about different group skating lessons HERE. Registration is available via Cape Community Services.
Espinal Family Youth Hockey Program
This co-ed program allows friends in grades 1-8 to play hockey on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons throughout the winter. Grades 1-4 and 5-8 will be split in two sessions. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will have Kent Hulst and volunteers leading players through drills and skills sessions. Hulst has over 20-years of experience in player development from Mites to Professional Hockey players throughout the Northeast. On Wednesdays, our volunteers will lead players in pond hockey games. Full hockey gear and sticks are required for Tuesdays and Thursdays; only helmets, gloves and sticks are required for Wednesdays.
