Our story

Cape Community Arena Group is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded in 2021 by residents who wanted a place to skate. We built a pilot rink at Town Hall, moved to a full sheet at Gull Crest, and have opened every winter since.

Open skate has been free from the first day and it stays that way. What the rink costs to run comes from donations, sponsorships, program fees, and a lot of donated hours.

We are now raising money for a permanent, covered, four-season arena at Gull Crest, so the ice lasts the whole winter and the building works the rest of the year too.

Where it started: the pilot rink behind Town Hall, winter 2021. Today we run a full sheet at Gull Crest.

Rink rules

Ten of them, and most are common sense.

Look for the Open sign. Rink use is permitted only when the “Open” sign is posted and a rink supervisor is present.
Use the doors. Enter and exit the rink only through the doors. Never climb over the boards.
Skate at your own risk. Know your abilities on skates and on the ice.
Share the ice. Be courteous. Public skate time is for recreational use only, with no lessons or other commercial activity.
Gear is a good idea. Helmets, pads, and other safety gear are strongly recommended.
Say something. Tell a rink supervisor right away if you see unsafe ice, equipment, or conduct.
Keep the site clean. Please do your part.
Wipe your feet. Dirt, mud, sand, and ice melt salt ruin the ice surface and skate blades for everyone.
Waiver first. A signed waiver is required for every person at the rink, on the ice or off. Being on site without one violates these terms and conditions.
Have fun. That is the whole point.
